Fundraising dinner vital to Mount Claret’s operations

Retreats, Lenten days of reflection and retirement homes for diocesan priests these are just a few of the things Catholics have come to expect from the Mount Claret Retreat Center.
But none of it would be possible without the center’s annual fundraising dinner. This year’s “Evening Under the Stars” will take place Oct. 6 at Mount Claret.
The gala will include a cocktail reception and dinner. Guests can enter a silent auction and raffle for a chance to win prizes such as a trip to Mexico, the University of Notre Dame or a jewelry gift certificate.
“Mount Claret Retreat Center is special because it is truly a sacred and an inspiring place for Mass, adoration, personal prayer and peaceful experiences with the Lord,” said Fr. Don Kline, the center’s director for the last two years.
For the last several years, the center has renovated existing facilities and built new ones to better serve the diocese.
“For the ordinands, we house their families who come into town,” said Deacon Jim Fogle, the center’s associate director.
“It’s a very quiet place, nestled against Camelback Mountain,” he said.
“We really need the support of people,” Deacon Fogle said. “The retreats we have here don’t pay for the maintenance of the center.”
