The Foundation for Senior Living has been offering care services to the elderly for decades.
Last week, the foundation opened a new Adult Day Health Center that will take them far into the future.
The Monsignor Edward J. Ryle Life Center, located in central Phoenix, is a state-of-the-art care facility that will be able to host more than 100 clients daily, providing them with activities, therapy and a sense of community.
“We’ve been running out of small church rooms for years, so this was exciting,” said Christina Stoneking, project manager for the center.
And what the foundation wanted for the 18,000-square-foot site was the opportunity to mix function with an inviting and homey décor.
“One of the features that came out of it was greater accessibility for the clients,” Stoneking said.
To this end, the foundation installed 17 individual bathrooms throughout the site. They offer greater privacy for the clients and are large enough to accommodate a caregiver.
There are also a number of breakout rooms, so the center can offer several programs simultaneously. This will allow the clients to pick and choose what interests them.
The center also features an open, country kitchen and a secluded dining room for clients who need some help feeding themselves.
The whole point is to acknowledge and support each client’s inherent dignity.
“We want them to feel at home,” Stoneking said.
