Year of St. Paul continues with Bible expo

Catholic educators, parishioners and older teens are invited to preview Bible study curricula and immerse themselves in Scripture during a two-day, bilingual event at the Diocesan Pastoral Center this week.

This is the second series of events sponsored by the Phoenix Diocese in commemorating the Year of St. Paul.

“As we are called to deepen our faith and our relationship with Christ, we must incorporate Sacred Scripture into our daily prayer and ongoing formation,” said Ryan Hanning, diocesan coordinator of adult evangelization. “St. Paul teaches us that the story of salvation history is not separate from our own lives.”

The first event, Feb. 5, is a bilingual Bible study publishers luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The fee is $5.

Catechetical leaders will receive an update on the Synod on Sacred Scripture from apologist, author and Ascension Press president, Matt Pinto.

In addition, parish leaders can preview several Bible study materials from Ascension, Liguori, Loyola and other publishers of Bible study programs designed to foster adult faith formation in the parishes.

By learning about the content and methodology, leaders can make a better decision about what format or curriculum would work best at their parish.

On Feb. 7, catechists and interested parishioners are invited to attend the bilingual Bible study expo at the pastoral center from
9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $15.

Publishers of Bible study material from the United States and Mexico will have programs and products for sale and on display.

The expo will teach on the life of St. Paul, and give ideas on how parishes can celebrate.

Catechists and teachers attending the breakout session can receive credit or re-certification CEU’s totaling up to 5 hours.

At the same time, older teens and young adults have an opportunity to attend the T3 Teen Bible Timeline at the pastoral center from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with Mark Hart. The $30 fee includes workbook and study materials.

Teens and young adults are introduced to salvation history in a way that serves to help them better understand what the Church teaches.

Space is limited to 70 people in the English track, 70 in the Spanish track and 50 older teens/young adults in the T3 track.
