That's the problem with moral relativism and convenience. This is the reason we are where we are. People love God but not enoug to follow ALL His Truths and Commandments. The Church relies on BOTH sacred traditions and scripture. All we want is for the Church to conform to our secular life style. This is sad. Many are called but few are chosen. We need to be stronger in times of crises. God Bless.

People can sit and watch basketball for 2 hours straight. We go to Mass to worship God and 50-60 minutes is a "minimum." It is heaven on earth, and one shouldn't wish for it to be shorter.

I talk to A LOT of Catholics and ask them why they don't go to Mass anymore. In four words I'll summarize. "Mass is to LONG" Every parish should have one Sunday Mass at nine or ten in the morning that isn't more than 35 minutes. Cut the in and out processions, cut the homily to five minutes, NO MUSIC, and cut out all the extra blessings and announcements at the beginning and the end of Mass. When word gets out, the Church will be packed. Then you won't have to use slogans ie. "Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis", AND "Year of Faith in “Porta Fidei” (“The Door of Faith”)" Old people that can't sit for 60 or 90 minutes will be there. People with little children will be able to expose there kids to the sacrament with out them getting restless and going wild! After a while it will be easier to memorize the prayers. It would help guys like me to drag in some of my fallen away Catholic friends. And for ADD folks like me, I can do deep prayer for about 20 minutes then my mind wonders. I'm telling you, it will work.
