You can not put your faith aside will you are voting on legislation. Either you are Catholic or you are not. It is a full time faith not one of convience. You can not say “Jesus I love and adore you while at Mass, but understand I am a democrat so I have to hold the nails in place as they hammer you to the cross while I am voting”.HHS mandate and Obama Care all passed with Catholic politician’s support.

We can not wash our hands of what they do. When Catholics knowingly vote for somebody they know will go against the teachings of the faith you have committed an ongoing sin. You can’t say “I will vote Obama today and confess later”. Whenever we support a person to power knowing this person is tainted, we carry that taint with us. Most of the Catholic politicians put party and power first rather than thier faith.

To say a bad Catholic is better than no Catholic, I dissagree. When in the public eye, they are setting an example of our faith by their actions. They teach our youth by the way they live their public life and how they vote. We encourage this example when we support them and our children see us support them.

They set an example to non-Catholics that we are a wishy-washy faith and not one to be taken seriously. They encourage weak and frail Catholics to remain that way rather than to try to grow stronger in the faith and in the love of God and his established Church here on earth.

They cause others to stumble and fall by their example. They will be held accountable for what they have done, but so will the people that helped give them the ability to do this. Our accountability nor thiers did not end at the ballot box.
