Thank you for this article. I was a Case Manager for an ALTCS plan and I had the blessing of getting to know families from Iraq who were assigned to me. They shared stories with me and left an everlasting impression on me of the faith they held tightly in spite of having to go halfway across the world to live a safe life. The horrors did not remove their faith and faithfulness to their God and their church. I was blessed through the interaction with them.. Hope I get to read Joyce’s book.

A Chaldean Catholic I know has done two tours in Iraq as a cultural advisor and interpeter for the U.S. Army and told me a couple of years ago that there would no Christians left in the Middle East in five years. I have also had the privilege of attending a Chaldean Mass while in RCIA in 2009. I was deeply moved by the solemnity of the rite.
