With Holy Week just days away, UP TV is offering the faithful numerous opportunities to tune in and get inspired.

In all, there are 21 classic stories from the Old and New Testaments airing in the lead-up to Easter, celebrated this year on April 20. The extravaganza began this week and there’s something new each day. You can catch all the programs on Direct TV channel 338 or Dish TV channel 188.

One of the highlights of the programming takes place Palm Sunday with the broadcast of the blockbuster film, “The Passion of the Christ.” The highest grossing religious film in history has been edited for television so that families can watch together and prepare for Holy Week and Easter.

“The Passion of the Christ” airs at 6 p.m. April 13.

Among numerous other films to be broadcast before Easter, UP is offering “The Ten Commandments,” starring Omar Sharif on April 11 at 5 p.m.

“King of Kings,” an epic film detailing the life of Jesus Christ from birth to crucifixion, airs April 15 at 5 p.m. and the 1999 film “Jesus” will be broadcast April 18 –  Good Friday- at 5 p.m.

There’s also the classic “The Greatest Story Every Told,” nominated for five Academy Awards and featuring Charleton Heston, Sidney Poitier and John Wayne, airing April 13 at 1:30 p.m.
