The last half a century of priesthood has brought Fr. Herbert C. Hauck from Rome to St. Louis to the Diocese of Phoenix where he will celebrate his 50th anniversary.
The anniversary Mass and reception begins at 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at Our Lady of Joy Parish in Carefree where, with the permission of his superiors in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Fr. Hauck has served since 2005. He is currently the parochial vicar, but officially retired in 2010.
[/quote_box_right]Fr. Hauck was ordained to the priesthood Dec. 16, 1964 in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. He returned to his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri to serve as a parish priest, high school teacher and administrator at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School and St. Thomas Aquinas/Aquinas Mercy High School (now Trinity) in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
He has enjoyed his roles as priest, teacher and administrator, even though he doesn’t remember the names of every parishioner and student who crossed his path, a news release said.
“I can remember only some of the faces and names of men, women, boys and girls who have impacted my life by their words and witness. There have been so many who have been part of my journey”, Fr. Hauck said.
