YouTube videos of two sisters who local Catholics have been praying for popped up this summer.

  • Catch up with Sr. Maria Kim Bui, a Daughter of St. Paul who is also known as one of the #MediaNuns
  • Sr. Christa Parra, a young religious with the Loreto Sisters The Catholic Sun profiled in 2008 as she headed off for formal discernment. Whether you speak English, Spanish or some degree of both, you’ll be proud to virtually meet or re-meet this young Catholic woman.

Sr. Maria Kim made her final vows two years ago at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tempe. Be patient, her bio starts at the 1:43 mark.

Favorite quote:

You know that blue color, that’s the color of Mary’s Mantle. The sky in Arizona is mostly always blue, so she would say, ‘Just as the sky is always blue, so Mary is always with you.’

-Sr. Maria Kim reflecting on words of her earthly mother

Sr. Christa Parra, who has been actively discerning, studying and doing so much more with the Loreto sisters since 2008, represented fellow graduates at Catholic Theological Union’s 48th Annual Commencement Ceremony May 12.

Cita favorita:

Who will lead me into the heart of God? … We walk together into the corazón de dios, a heart that desires all of humanity and creation to flourish freely and fully. La fiesta captures a spirit of hope, la sweet esperanza. We struggle en conjunto for a tomorrow freed from sufferings that make us cry, ‘Ay, dios mío.’

With the creative energy flowing from our fiesta tonight, Bailamos! Bailamos– let us dance into the future the mystery that awaits us. Bailamos – joining and inviting others into the divine dance with God, who is Trinity. Bailamos as we anticipate the heavenly fiesta.

-Sr. Christa Parra to fellow Catholic Theological Union graduates
