Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted prays during the 2008 White Mass at the Diocesan Pastoral Center Virginia G. Piper Chapel.

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo A. Nevares will concelebrate the annual White Mass at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center.

This yearly event is held near the Feast of St. Luke, whom Paul refers to as “Our dear physician (Colossians 4:14).” All health care givers are invited to the event, which is hosted by the Phoenix Catholic Physicians Guild.

Following the Mass, there will be a banquet at the Phoenix Country Club, where Bishop Olmsted will be the featured speaker.

Catholic Physicians Guild President Bill Brophy, MD, encouraged all Catholic health care givers to seek deeper involvement with the Church, in light of the current multiple attacks on Catholic teaching. “This Mass and banquet in October will be a good way to connect with those attempting to practice their healing vocations according to Magisterial teachings.”

Those wishing to attend the banquet should RSVP via the Catholic Physicians Guild website, www.cpgphoenix.com.
