It has only been about two months since The Little Church Store made its debut in the Arcadia neighborhood of East Phoenix.
Located at 4747 E. Thomas Road, Suite B, the cozy, eclectic store boasts handcrafted items by Arizona artists. It’s a place you can find the Catechism and hand-tied rosaries, folk art, jewelry and baptism gifts.
Customers can also custom order items from Bibles to crosses.
Storeowners Pam Kwan and Tim Schwanz along with their daughters, Morgan and Mary, quietly opened their doors on Morgan’s birthday, Oct. 20. The store is located in a small commercial corner, bookended by a cake store and a barbershop.
The family painted the walls inside the store to echo the warmth of their own home. Pieces are displayed hanging from the wall, display trees or inside antique curio cabinets.
“The neighborhood needed a good place to get items,” Morgan said. “The store is like our house, it’s welcoming.”
Mary said her parents, parishioners of St. Theresa Parish, love the Church and wanted to provide an opportunity for people to purchase unique religious products.
Pam is an accomplished artist/crafter herself. She makes rosaries out of precious stones, crosses from saguaro cacti and is also a photographer.
Both girls attend Arcadia High School down the street, so it’s a short jaunt to work after school.
“I love the people, and the opportunity to talk to everybody that comes in,” Mary said. “People are excited that we are close and convenient.”
