Dirt! The Movie — 6:30-9 p.m. Aug. 23 at The Casa in Scottsdale (map). Learn about the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has and the current state of the living organic matter that we come from. Facilitated discussion follows. Cost: $10 per person includes appetizer and beverage.

20th anniversary/Youth Commissioning — 5:30 p.m. Mass Aug. 25 at St. Helen Parish in Glendale (map). Fr. Ben Onegin will celebrate the regularly scheduled liturgy, when his 20th anniversary of ordination as an Apostles of Jesus priest will also be acknowledged. The evening  will also recognize the first graduates of the Youth and Youth Adult Ministry's Leadership Formation Series. Eight leaders will be deployed as student missionaries to their school/universities. A Karaoke Sing Along follows.

  • “Paul VI” — 5-6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 on EWTN and online. First half of a two-part profile of Pope Paul VI (1897-1978). This segment focuses on his early life, including his call to the priesthood and his time as a university professor. The special concludes Aug. 31.
  • EWTN Family Celebration — Various times Aug. 24-25 on EWTN and online. It was in Phoenix last year and returns to its hometown in Alabama this year.
