KNIX 102.5FM in partnership with Fulton Homes recently honored a St. John Bosco teacher and an Our Lady of Mount Carmel teacher through its Teacher of the Week program. They each received $300 cash, a custom clock for the classroom and air time during the award presentation.

An alumna nominated Edythe Bowers, a fourth-grade teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Tempe. Bowers received her award Oct. 20. It aired and went online today. She is the first Falcon teacher to receive it.

Diana Heilman nominated the woman who once taught her fifth-grade at the same school where she now teaches Heilman’s daughter. She described Bowers as a dedicated teacher with eternal caring words of encouragement for her students that make them feel as if they are her favorite.

A parent successfully nominated Kari Czerniski, a first grade teacher at St. John Bosco School in Ahwatukee. Czerniski received her award earlier this month in a pre-recorded presentation that went online Oct. 17. Jessica Satiroff, who nominated her, touted Czerniski’s warmth, patience and passion for teaching.

“Our children were so proud to be among her classes of ‘little angels,’ as she calls them, “even though they were not always angelic,” Satiroff wrote on her nomination form.
