Every now and then, especially with social media, we’re able to re-connect with people who were once a more regular part of our lives.

For example, I recently became “friends” again with someone I knew in high school. Due to geography, the friendship is purely virtual this time around. My dad took a trip down memory lane this week when he met up with a teacher he had in eighth-grade at a private school.

And now, Catholic Sun readers can catch up with names who once appeared more regularly in our printed pages:

  • Chris Benguhe, longtime columnist for The Catholic Sun, spent much of 2014 on personal writing and speaking projects plus regular columns in The Saturday Evening Post.
Now, he is making headlines in The Catholic Sun again, this time, for a compilation of his Sun columns. Read about them.
  • Brett Heising, a former staff writer for The Catholic Sun, is making recent headlines too. This time, he is the subject of the stories instead of the writer.
Heising is founder and chief executive officer of “brettapproved,” a community of contributors eager to review, rate and share great places that work for people with disabilities. His initiative has received some press in its first two years, including most recently, on azfamily.
  • Ennie Hickman, who spent three years as director of youth ministry at St. Timothy Parish in Mesa, has spent the last two years as president and missionary with Adore Ministries founded in Houma, Louisiana.
Today, his name is crossing social media feeds with this #ShareJesus video. More on the #ShareJesus Lenten initiative.

Last summer, Hickman and friend and one-time diocesan musician Ike Ndolo, appeared on The Bishop’s Hour, a weekly diocesan podcast produced by the Office of Communications. “They shared about their Love Your Neighbor Tour.”
