Memorial Day is soon upon us. During this time of honoring those who sacrificed their lives in the service of our country, it’s natural for our thoughts to turn to those loved ones we have lost.

As Catholics, we are blessed to be able to come together as a faith community at Mass, to pray for these selfless Americans. We hope you will join us on this special occasion at Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 30, 2016 at our cemetery locations throughout the Valley and Northern Arizona.

This season of memories can draw us closer to our loved ones, but it also can be a painful time of year for those who are struggling with loss. As Catholics, we know one of the Corporal Works of Mercy we are called to perform is to bury the dead. However, we must also remember that caring for the grieving, one of the Spiritual Works of Mercy, is equally important.

[/quote_box_right]At Catholic Cemeteries and Funeral Homes, we understand that many of the families who come to us need extra support as they come to terms with their loss, whether it was expected or sudden. To meet this need, we offer grief services for families and individuals with Father Rossi. During his 45 years as a priest, he has dedicated his ministry to bringing hope to those who are suffering. If you are interested in learning more about bereavement services with Fr. Rossi, please call 602-392-2341 to schedule an appointment.

In addition to this offering, we provide bereavement training to local parishes to assist them in ministering to the grieving in their own communities.

In my role as Deacon, I often meet with families in mourning. I turn to words of comfort to help guide them through this painful time: Jesus, the Good Shepherd, grieves with them. Because of this, they are never alone.

Many blessings.
