Fr. Thomas Eckert, CSC, is the pastor of St. John Vianney Parish in Goodyear.

As a seminarian I used to try to envision what my life might look like when I became a priest. The unknown can sometimes be daunting, but opening one’s mind and heart to the possibilities that the Lord presents very often puts our hearts at ease.

Now beginning my eighth year as pastor of St. John Vianney Parish and School in Goodyear, I can joyfully attest to the Lord’s generous blessings as He continues to shape my vocation as a priest and my life in ministry to His people.

As a priest and religious of the Congregation of Holy Cross, I am part of a great band of men who serve as “Educators in the Faith.” What a blessing this has been at St. John Vianney School, which has more than doubled in enrollment in the past five years.

Catholic education tuition assistance is one of the blessings of the “Together Let Us Go Forth ~ Juntos Sigamos Adelante” campaign. Each year our eighth grade graduates seek to continue their Catholic education in high school, and the campaign’s attention to this helps our families tremendously.

We always share with our families that a Catholic education should be, as our bishops call for, affordable, accessible and attainable. With this focus on Catholic education tuition assistance, the “Together” campaign helps make this a reality for generations
to come!
