St. Helen Parish in Glendale was named one of five Champions of Energy Efficiency winners in the “Outstanding Energy-Efficiency” category through SRP’s annual program. Foundation for Senior Living earned the sole title as the “Most Energy-Efficient Community Homebuilder.”

FSL offers home energy solutions, health and mobility-inspired home improvements, plus a growing collection of apartments and homes.

The floor plans at South Phoenix Village, a 121 single-family home community, are 1,300-1,700 square feet and range in price from $190,000 to $215,000. Adding to the affordability, they all come with $15,000 in home buyer assistance in the form of a zero percent interest deferred loan for qualified home buyers.

St. Helen was one of two “mid size” entities that saved the highest percentage of energy based on annual usage.

A roof and tile replacement with thermal insulation helped a lot as did retrofitting existing fixtures to LED lighting both inside and outside. The parish estimated a 41 percent annual energy savings. Future plans include programmable thermostats and an upgrade to a more efficient a/c system.
