The Way of Mindfulness: Thich Nhat Hahn and Pema Chodron
We are a busy people, and we have elevated multi-tasking to a high virtue. Unfortunately, it’s been said that the greatest obstacles to living a spiritual life are speed and noise. Most of us are guilty on both counts. Slowing down and paying attention are skills that we need to recapture if we are going to be present to the moments of our lives, and to the voice of God whispering to us within those moments.
During our time together, we will practice silence together and individually. We will discuss some of the challenges that rise up the minute we sit down to be quiet. We will explore some of the possibilities offered to us in the silence. So, bring your kneeling bench or your pillow or your mat. Feel free to sit in a chair if you need to. Wear comfortable clothes and relax into a safe space. Just breathe.
