From the beginning of the Franciscan movement, laypeople have helped shape and carry forward the Franciscan charism alongside vowed men and women. Central to this tradition is the capacity for compassion — to be present with those who are suffering — cultivated through mutual respect, attentive listening, and presence.

With practical meditations, interactive talks, and a safe setting for practicing supportive communication, this retreat will strengthen participants’ ability to offer Franciscan leadership in the 21st century. As vocations to vowed religious life decline, laypeople are in a prime position to help carry the charism into the future.

Fee: Single, $325 including meals and lodging; Commuter, $175 including meals. Pre-registration required.
