SUMMARY:Thich Nhat Hanh and Thomas Merton: Guides for a Life of Prayer and Peace with Tom Stella and Jerry Braza
DESCRIPTION:Come away for a weekend of learning\, prayer\, and meditation.\nAlthough they met on only one occasion\, Buddhist and Catholic monks Thich Nhat Hanh and Thomas Merton found in each other a true brotherhood based on their belief in the relationship between prayer and social action. For both spiritual teachers\, mysticism (union) was the ground in which their awareness and responses to peace and injustice was rooted. The more we become aware of the divine within\, the more we can realize our interbeing with all humanity. Through presentations\, discussions\, meditation and prayer\, we will open ourselves to the teachings of these two great mentors who embodied what they taught. \nFee: Single $300 including meals and lodging; commuter $150 including meals. Pre-registration required. \nCommuter\nFull price $150.00 \nSingle\nFull price $300.00 \nSign Up By Thursday\, Nov 2 at 4:00pm\nFRC.retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:Live Your Relationships as a Spiritual Practice
DESCRIPTION:with LaShelle Lowe-Charde \nA Compassionate Communication Weekend\nIs this you?\nYou want better communication skills and more fulfilling relationships. You want to create more connection in your personal relationships and have the confidence that you can handle conflict. You want to engage with the people you care about using relationship skills that embody your values. \nYou are dedicated to living an authentic life with compassion for yourself and others. You understand that creating healthy relationships requires mindfulness and practical skills. You are ready and willing to practice mindfulness and concrete skills in a safe environment that includes vulnerability and self-reflection. \nWhat’s it all about?\nLiving your relationships as a spiritual practice means being able to trust yourself to live your values moment-by-moment in the most mundane activities of daily life. It means that in your interactions with family\, friends\, community\, co-workers\, and partners you work to stay grounded in living from your deepest values like love\, equity\, peace\, care\, and kindness. It also means that you have invested time\, energy\, and careful attention in cultivating the concrete and practical skills that help you meet relationship challenges in integrity with those values. Mindful Compassionate Dialogue(MCD) offers a way to do this. \nIt is a system that helps you cultivate and access mindful engagement\, agency\, compassion\, and wisdom. Personal transformation and skillful relating is achieved through practice with the 12 Relationship Competencies and Nine Foundations\, which arise from a central\, life-serving intention. MCD naturally supports you in creating the relationships you want by integrating the wisdom and skills of three powerful modalities: Hakomi\, Nonviolent Communication (NVC)\, and mindfulness. \nWhat to expect?\nIn this weekend workshop\, you will engage in conceptual learning\, experiential learning\, and skills practice. Practice exercises will be done individually\, in pairs\, and in small groups. You will choose examples from your own life to practice with in the exercises. You can choose to share at the level of vulnerability that supports your learning and transformation. \nIn our weekend together\, you will be introduced to and practice key skills for listening with empathy\, asking for what you need\, managing reactivity\, cultivating resilience\, setting life-serving boundaries\, and engaging in relationship repair. \nI’m so excited to offer this weekend of learning\, sharing\, and growing together. Relationships as spiritual practice is at the center of this work. I was born to do this work; to explore spiritual evolution within relationships and help lead this world into relationship mastery. \nPlease join us in exploration and learning about how to live your relationships as a spiritual practice. \nFee: Single\, including meals and lodging\, $300; Commuter\, $150 including meals. Pre-registration required. \nPlease email lora@thecasa.org for double rate information. \nCommuter\nFull price $150.00 \nSingle\nFull price $300.00 \nSign Up By Thursday\, Nov 30 at 4:00pm\nFRC.retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:Emmaus Retreat for Grieving Parents with Marianne Gouveia and Greg Eckerman
DESCRIPTION:The EMMAUS Ministry for Grieving Parents is a unique ministry that serves the spiritual needs of grieving parents\nOf all the pains that life can hand us\, arguably the most searing is the loss of a child. During this weekend\, just as Jesus joined his distraught disciples on the road to Emmaus\, we pray for all of our parents and we ask Jesus to join us as we walk the horrendous journey of grieving our loss every day. EMMAUS Ministry for Grieving Parents is a unique ministry that serves the spiritual needs of grieving parents whose children of any age have died by any cause\, no matter how long ago. \nWe focus on the promise of eternal life and the rich teachings of our faith to help these terribly broken parents. We ask questions such as: \nWhere is God in my pain? \nWhere is my child right now? \nWhy do I feel abandoned by God? \nHow could God let this happen? \nThe retreat is offered by grieving parents who have lost children of their own. We provide an opportunity for parents to gather in a sacred\, warm\, and compassionate space with others who know their pain. Many parents find peace and comfort\, at least for a time. All faiths are welcome. For additional information\, contact Eric’s Mom\, Marianne Gouveia\, at 602.549.8932. \nFEE: Single $250\, including meals and lodging. Commuter $135 per person. \nPlease email Lora at lora@thecasa.org for information on double rooms. \nPre-registration required. \nSingle\nFull price $250.00 \nSign Up By Thursday\, Dec 7 at 4:00pm\nFRC\,retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:St. Francis: Journey of a Resilient Warrior
DESCRIPTION:Fr. Conrad Targonski\, Greg Masiello and Rev. Dr. Bill Reese \nA Franciscan Retreat for Veterans and Service Members \nThis retreat is designed to offer active-duty service members and veterans healing insights from one of the most beloved but misunderstood saints\, St. Francis of Assisi. \nMost people don’t know that St. Francis was a soldier and a prisoner of war who faced hardships and challenges before undergoing a profound religious experience. In untangling the paradox of his life\, this retreat will explore how the call of the warrior intersects with the call of spirituality. \nThe group will examine\, from various perspectives\, the challenges confronting veterans in light of the life of a saint who rose out of the ashes of combat to become an icon of peace. With this in mind\, we will look at the life of St. Francis as portrayed in the book The Journey and the Dream by Fr. Murray Bodo\, OFM\, PhD. \nFEE: This retreat is provided at no cost to veterans and service members due to generous donations from various community organizations and private individuals. There are no commuter options for this retreat. To register or if you have questions\, please contact Linda MacLeish at macleishlinda@gmail.com. Please be sure to indicate in your registration email your special needs\, such as if you have a service dog\, C-PAP equipment\, need an ADA-accessible room\, or have other physical limitations. \n(Note: the underlying cost of the retreat is $300 per person. If you would like to donate to support a veteran’s attendance in the future\, please contact Victor Jaimes\, Co-Manager of Faith in Action Ministry\, at vjaimes@thecasa.org). \nSign Up By Thursday\, Feb 8\, 2024 at 4:00pm\nFRC.rereatportal.com
