SUMMARY:At Home in Our Own Skin Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Terry Hershey\, Richard Wing and Charles Brown \nFinding stillness and courage in an upside-down world\nIt is too easy to viscerally react to or feel at the mercy of an inundating loop of news stories. A part of us wants to shut down or live stuck\, disconnected\, or cynical. So\, here’s our question: What does it mean to be at home in our own skin and to hear the affirmation\, “You are enough”? \nHow do we remind one another of the courage and sufficiency within us when times are tough\, dark\, and/or hurtful? \nAnd how do we remember\, even in the discouraging and demanding places\, that we can hear and affirm the voice of courage that is alive and well inside\, and with it\, walk one another home? \nIt is so easy (and tempting) to see our vulnerability as a weakness\, limitation\, or flaw and not as the affirmation of a strong and resilient heart. It doesn’t matter what we expect from life\, but what life expects from us. As a result\, we can choose to unbridle our hearts\, to be our better selves. \nWhat does it mean to pause\, find moments of stillness to reconnect with our heart? What does it mean to learn how to live and love from a soft heart—the permission to see the world\, this day\, through the eyes of our hearts. \nAt home in our own skin—connected to our heart—we allow ourselves to feel\, fully and wholly\, without a need to defend\, justify\, or explain. \nWe allow ourselves to receive love\, compassion\, and kindness without suspicion. We are free to embrace an extraordinary core of strength and courage that resides inside us\, and let it spill to those around us. \nFee\, including meals: $300 single room; $150 commuter. Pre-registration required. \nSign Up By Thu\, Jul 31 at 4:00 pm\nTo register\, visit frc.retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:Emmaus Retreat for Grieving Parents
DESCRIPTION:Marianne Gouveia and Greg Eckerman \nThe EMMAUS Ministry for Grieving Parents is a unique ministry that serves the spiritual needs of grieving parents\nOf all the pains that life can hand us\, arguably the most searing is the loss of a child. During this weekend\, just as Jesus joined his distraught disciples on the road to Emmaus\, we pray for all of our parents and we ask Jesus to join us as we walk the horrendous journey of grieving our loss every day. EMMAUS Ministry for Grieving Parents is a unique ministry that serves the spiritual needs of grieving parents whose children of any age have died by any cause\, no matter how long ago. \nWe focus on the promise of eternal life and the rich teachings of our faith to help these terribly broken parents. We ask questions such as: \nWhere is God in my pain? \nWhere is my child right now? \nWhy do I feel abandoned by God? \nHow could God let this happen? \nThe retreat is offered by grieving parents who have lost children of their own. We provide an opportunity for parents to gather in a sacred\, warm\, and compassionate space with others who know their pain. Many parents find peace and comfort\, at least for a time. All faiths are welcome. For additional information\, contact Eric’s Mom\, Marianne Gouveia\, at 602.549.8932. \nFee\, including meals: Single Room $250; Commuter $135 per person. \nPlease email Lora at lora@thecasa.org for information on double rooms. \nPre-registration required. \nSingle\nFull price $250.00 \nSign Up By Thu\, Apr 24 at 4:00 pm\nTo register\, visit frc.retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:Living Into the Truth of God's Extravagant Love
DESCRIPTION:Friday April 25\, 4:00 pm through\nSunday April 27\, 10:00 am \nRoger L. Parks\, Psy.D \nA Contemplative Retreat\nPlease note: this a lodger’s only retreat. Commuters are not an option for this retreat. \nIn the words of A.W. Tozer: “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” Given that our view of God is the critical foundation upon which we build and live our lives\, it is essential that our view of Him aligns with the true nature of who He actually is. Unfortunately\, we have learned distorted views of God through family\, the culture\, and even the Church which severely undermines our ability to love\, trust\, and relate to our heavenly Father. This contemplative retreat will help you examine these distorted views and invite you to replace them with a more accurate and biblically-based view of God as incarnated in the person of Jesus – “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). \nBy opening ourselves to the gracious work of the Holy Spirit through participation in guided meditations\, prayer\, silence\, solitude\, journaling\, and writing a Beloved Charter\, retreatants will begin to experience a shift in their view of God to one which is more benevolent\, loving\, and life-giving. Optional spiritual direction sessions will also be offered. \nFEE: Single\, $300 including meals and lodging; Pre-registration required. \nFor information on doubles\, please email lora@thecasa.org. \nSign Up By Thu\, Apr 24 at 4:00 pm\nTo register\, visit frc.retreatportal.com

SUMMARY:If Only...Making Peace with Our Past to Heal Our Present
DESCRIPTION:Fr. Charles Wehrley\, C.Ss.R \nA retreat about regret\nThis retreat will teach us how to fully grieve losses from past mistakes instead of simply replaying them and remaining stuck in regret. This requires us to re-vision our mistakes by grieving them to the point where we can surrender them into God’s hands and allow God to provide the final healing touch we need. People rarely like to grieve\, and we don’t recognize that we will never be free of the past unless we process it. We have to feel the sense of loss\, the guilt\, the shame\, and the deep sorrow before we can feel a sense of relief and hopefully learn a lesson from our mistakes—a lesson that will prevent us from making the same mistake again. \nFee: Single\, $300 including meals and lodging; Commuter\, $150 including meals. SUMMARY:The Eucharistic Heart Of Christianity: A Lenten Retreat Talk With Joe Heschmeyer
DESCRIPTION:Come to St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley on Friday\, March 14th for a very special presentation on “The Eucharistic Heart of Christianity” by Joe Heschmeyer from Catholic Answers! This Lenten retreat talk will be entirely free to attend. Please share this far and wide and help spread the good news of our core Catholic beliefs! \nDrawing on themes from his book “The Eucharist is Really Jesus: How Christ’s Body and Blood: Are the Key to Everything We Believe”\, Joe explores the essential role of the Eucharist in Christianity. For instance\, what is “the New Testament\,” and how does the Eucharist make sense of Christ’s new covenant? Joe Heschmeyer has a long history of public speaking\, having been a high school and college debater\, an attorney\, a seminarian\, a religion instructor\, and an adjunct professor at a Catholic college. He has run the blog Shameless Popery since 2009\, co-hosted The Catholic Podcast for three years\, and is a long-time contributor to various Catholic online and print publications. \nAs a result\, Joe is comfortable speaking in front of audiences of a variety of sizes\, ages\, and backgrounds. His style combines clear\, logical presentations of information with humor\, analogies\, and stories that help drive home the truth. And though Joe enjoys lively debate\, his approach to apologetics is to “win the person\, not the argument\,” and he has employed that approach with success everywhere from coffeeshops to college campuses.

SUMMARY:St. Francis: Journey of a Resilient Warrior
DESCRIPTION:A special retreat for active-duty service members and veterans \nThis program will run from 5:00pm on Friday\, February 21\, and will conclude on Sunday\, February 23 at 1:00pm. \nSt. Francis: Journey of a Resilient Warrior Retreat is designed to offer active-duty service members and veterans healing insights from one of the most beloved but misunderstood saints\, St. Francis of Assisi. \nMost people don’t know that St. Francis was a soldier and a prisoner of war who faced hardships and challenges before undergoing a profound religious experience. In untangling the paradox of his life\, this retreat will explore how the call of the warrior intersects with the call of spirituality. \nThe group will examine\, from various perspectives\, the challenges confronting veterans in light of the life of a saint who rose out of the ashes of combat to become an icon of peace. With this in mind\, we will look at the life of St. Francis as portrayed in the book The Journey and the Dream by Franciscan Friar Murray Bodo\, OFM. \nFEE: This retreat is provided at no cost to the veterans due to a generous donation through the Arizona Community Foundation. (Note: the underlying cost of the retreat is $300 per person. Should you choose to donate to support a veteran’s attendance in the future\, please contact Victor Jaimes\, Co-Manager of Faith in Action Ministry at vjaimes@thecasa.org). There are no commuter options for this retreat. Please be sure to indicate on the registration form your special needs\, such as if you have a service dog\, CPAP equipment\, need an ADA-accessible room\, a first-floor room\, or have other physical limitations. SUMMARY:Befriending Our Belovedness
DESCRIPTION:Diane Millis\, PH.D \nRemembering who we are…\n…sometimes it is necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness\, \n—Galway Kinnell\, Saint Francis and the Sow \nIt’s easy to forget who we are and who we were created to be. We live in a world that keeps telling us who we should be rather than imploring us to remember who we are. We are lovely and we are beloved. \nThis retreat is designed for all those who are seeking to claim their identity as God’s beloved. During our time together\, participants will be introduced to specific approaches for reconnecting with the parts of themselves and their life experiences that yearn to be tended\, befriended\, and healed. \nThrough time in prayer\, presentations by our facilitator\, guided reflection and writing\, and contemplative conversations in small groups\, we will explore practices for reclaiming who we are and who we are called to become—both personally and in community. \nFee: $100 per person including lunch. Pre-registration required. \nSign Up By Thu\, Feb 13\, 2025 at 4:00 pm\nTo register\, visit thecasa.org/programs and click Retreat Portal
