SUMMARY:Place in Sun Lenten Mission with Fr. John Cella
DESCRIPTION:Looking at the Universe Differently \nWith the operation of the James Webb Telescope\, we are looking at the Universe in a different way. Nothing has changed but we see things more clearly. Same with our faith\, we can look at our Church history and theology in a different way. Nothing has changed but we can see things differently with our theologies. \nDuring the course of our talks\, we will walk with some insights about God and the universe\, God and incarnation and some Franciscan theologians. Hopefully\, we might see the same things differently. \nBio: Fr. John Cella is a Franciscan priest for over 44 years. He is a canon lawyer and has worked in international church organizations\, seminaries\, diocesan leadership\, Franciscan leadership and finances. Besides his certification as an exorcist\, he also is an amateur astronomer and wine maker.

SUMMARY:Vatican Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles
DESCRIPTION:As part of the National Eucharistic Revival\, the Vatican Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles is coming to Phoenix. There will be many stops on the way. See amazing displays for yourself — no need to travel to Rome! \nWhat is a Eucharistic Miracle?\nEucharistic miracles are extraordinary events or phenomena\, which manifest the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine in a way that we can discern with our ordinary senses. The manifestation may be as simple as a host floating on air or as astonishing as a host becoming visible human flesh. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\nTo always be close to Jesus; that’s my life plan. \nWith these few words\, Carlo Acutis\, the boy who died of leukemia\, outlines the distinguishing feature of his brief existence: to live with Jesus\, of Jesus\, and in Jesus. This international exhibition was created and designed by Blessed Carlo Acutis in 2002. It consists of an extensive collection of photographs and historical records representing a sampling of ancient and modern Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in various parts of the world. The collection was assembled by the Vatican to mark the Year of the Eucharist (2004-2005). After being shown at more than 500 parishes in Italy\, it is now traveling the rest of the world. \nBring the exhibit to your parish or school!\nThe exhibition brought to Phoenix is comprised of 47 different miracles spanning 1500 years\, with the most recent one having occurred in 2013! The miracles featured are from Europe\, Asia\, and the Americas. The exhibition offers you a virtual tour of these veritable treasures of our faith. To bring this exhibition to your parish or school\, email EucharisticMiraclesArizona@gmail.com. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\, pray for us! Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament\, pray for us!

SUMMARY:Fast Talk Theology: Lenten Insights from Jacopone da Todi\, Franciscan with Fr. Michael Blastic\, OFM\, Ph.D
DESCRIPTION:A program presented in partnership with the Franciscan School of Theology \nThe life story and poetry of Jacopone da Todi will be used to reflect on and respond to the challenges of living as Christians in a post-Christian world and the implications of this for our Lenten journey toward Easter. Jacopone (1230-1306) was a Franciscan Friar caught between the structures of the institutional church and his commitment to the radical practices and commitments of life as a Lesser Brother. His poetry describes the experience of his personal struggle to remain faithful to Francis of Assisi and the life of the gospel in a period of spiritual darkness and silence\, revealing what he learned along the way. \nNo fee and no registration required. Program will be in the Francis Room. \nOpen Attendance

SUMMARY:Popcorn\, Pizza and Peace Movie Night: Mission Joy
DESCRIPTION:Faith In Action Ministry \n“Joy is the reward of seeking to give Joy to others.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu \n– Laugh out loud funny. – Poignant. Powerful. Practical.\nA once-in-a-generation film with a “just-in-time” message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In what is likely their last time together\, this film traces the epic life stories of these Nobel Peace Prize winners as they faced oppression\, exile\, death threats\, cancer\, and more — unyielding and still laughing. They are opposites in many ways\, yet their friendship shows us that our shared humanity is bigger than our differences. Their life stories remind us that JOY is an inside job\, that JOY and pain are inseparable\, and that deep connection is one of the secrets to JOY. \nMeet the self-described ‘Mischievous Brothers’ – One grew up in a palace in Tibet. – The other grew up in poverty in South Africa. One a Buddhist; the other a Christian. Yet their friendship shows us that true connection overcomes our differences. They are on a mission to help us all live with more JOY. Archbishop Desmond Tutu An Anglican cleric\, theologian\, and social justice hero. He was a prominent opponent of the apartheid system of racial segregation and white-minority rule—work he continued despite death threats and attempted assassinations—for which he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. His Holiness the Dalai Lama The spiritual leader of Tibet describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk\, but he is better known for his work regarding compassion\, inter-religious understanding and the intersection of modern science and spirituality. He was given a Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work on nonviolence. In addition to His Holiness and the Archbishop\, the film features: – Mpho Tutu – Priest and Author – Doug Abrams – Co-author on The Book of Joy\, Interviewer – Sonja Lyubomirsky – Ph.D. and Scientist – Thupten Jinpa – Ph.D.\, Tibetan Scholar\, Author\, Translator for the Dalai Lama – Richard Davidson – Ph.D.\, Scientist \nFee: $12. Fee includes film\, pizza\, popcorn and refreshments. Pre-registration required. No walk-ins. \nRegistration closes Thursday\, March 30\, at 4 pm. Registration required at: frc.retreatportal.com. Or register at the (Lobby) Guest Services Desk: in person or call 480.942.7460. \nPopcorn Pizza and Peace Movie Night schedule: Optional: Stations of the Cross at 5:30 pm at the Casa Desert Walk (Northside of campus near the Meditation Chapel and Healing Garen). 6:00 pm – sign-in/doors open. 6:00-6:30 – Pizza and refreshments 6:30-8:15 – Introductions\, Film and break 8:20-9:00 – Conversation. \nCommuter\nFull price $12.00 \nSign Up By Thursday\, Mar 30 at 4:00pm\nFRC.retreatportal.com
