DESCRIPTION:Holy Week Retreat Part 1\, April 9 – 13\, with Fr. Andre Cirino\, OFM \nJournaling the Passion of the Christ with St. Francis \nThis retreat centers on the art of journaling with a focus on the Passion of Jesus Christ. Part 1 will be comprised of an introduction to spiritual journaling focusing on the many events of the Passion with an emphasis on what St. Bonaventure calls the affective dimension of Franciscan spirituality. For St. Francis\, Lent was a precious time. He observed 5 Lents of 40 days annually. We know he spent the Church Lent of 1211 on an island named Isola Maggiore in the middle of a lake\, Lago Trasimeno. In the Upper Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi\, the famous artist\, Giotto\, painted 28 frescoes of the life of St. Francis. In one fresco\, he actually paints the saint as he meditates on the Passion. He was heard by his companions to weep at the Passion of Christ as if it were before his eyes. Giotto depicts him in ecstasy\, lifted from the ground in a bright cloud with his arms raised in the form of a cross\, his hands spread open in anticipation of the nail marks of the stigmata. Each Lent we are invited to meditate on the Passion of Christ. How does the Passion come before your eyes? \nFEE: Lodging\, including meals: $100 Single\, $80 double\, per night\, per person\, Sunday night through Wednesday night. Stay as many nights as you wish within this span. \nHoly Week Retreat\, Part 2\, April 14 – 17\, with Fr. Andre Cirino\, OFM: Paschal Triduum\nDuring the Paschal Triduum\, we will examine and pray St. Francis’ Office of the Passion\, his own personal spiritual journal of scriptural meditations. \nFEE\, with lodging and meals: $375 single. DESCRIPTION:Good Friday is the one day in the year that no Masses are celebrated. In remembrance of Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross\, Catholics gather for a Communion service and to Venerate the Holy Cross. \nGood Friday is also a day of fasting and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory from age 18 until age 59\, unless fasting jeopardizes your health (for example\, pregnant or nursing mothers\, those with chronic illness like diabetes\, etc.). When fasting\, a person is permitted to eat one full meal\, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. All Catholics from age 14 onwards should abstain from eating meat. SUMMARY:St. Francis the Traveler with Juliet Mousseau\, RSCJ
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we travel with St. Francis. \nSt. Francis of Assisi took seriously the call to follow in Jesus’s footsteps. His conversion launched him into preaching the Good News both near and far. Francis traveled the local region and ventured farther to share the Good News. His desire for solitude sent him into the mountains and caves around Assisi. Church business took him to Rome\, and the impulse for evangelization took him to the Holy Land. In 1217\, St. Francis was inspired to send Franciscans to all the world. In this workshop\, we will look at some of St. Francis’s travels. \nJuliet Mousseau\, RSCJ\, completed her doctorate in historical theology at Saint Louis University in 2006. After teaching at Saint Louis University and the University of Dallas School of Ministry\, she entered the Society of the Sacred Heart in 2009. She served as a professor of church history at the Aquinas Institute of Theology from 2012 to 2021. During that time\, she published on the twelfth-century Abbey of Saint Victor as well as contemporary issues in religious life. She made her final profession as a Religious of the Sacred Heart in January 2020. She became the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Franciscan School of Theology in 2021. Her most recent book is Prophetic Witnesses to Joy: A Theology of the Vowed Life (Liturgical Press\, 2021). \nThis is a free-will donation program. Through a four day class\, Nullity Ministers gain important information in order to serve those who have obtained a civil divorce and are interested in petitioning for an annulment. \nThe training consists of 4 sessions\, they will be held on May 6th\, 13th\, 20th\, 27th\, 2022 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center from 9 am to 4 pm.
