DESCRIPTION:Come learn how to share the Word of God with visitors to the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Phoenix Dining Room. This one-hour\, hands-on workshop will show you how to lead a Christ in Our Neighborhood faith-sharing group for our brothers and sisters in need. Guests at the dining room receive a nutritious and filling meal but they are also hungry for the love and hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Volunteers will serve in pairs once a month on a Wednesday or Saturday. At the Oct. 11 workshop\, they’ll learn how to lead a small group discussion focused on the upcoming Sunday Mass readings. SUMMARY:Healing of Memories for Women Veterans
DESCRIPTION:The Healing of Memories Team \nThe first step to healing\nThe Healing of Memories Workshop is a major step that helps veterans begin the healing journey. It provides a safe place for participants to explore personal histories and gain insight and empathy for themselves and others. Participation provides a safe experiential and interactive way to overcome anger\, loss\, grief\, and guilt and can be one step on the journey to healing and wholeness. It contributes not only to personal healing\, but also to the healing of interpersonal relationships. The key to the workshop is that it provides a safe environment for participants to tell their stories. Many veterans have kept these buried deep inside themselves and this has been a barrier to their healing. As they tell their stories and listen to others\, they realize that they share a common human bond and that we are all wounded in some way by past experiences. \nThis workshop is exclusive to women veterans and focuses on themes salient to women who serve in the military. \nThe workshop begins on Friday evening with a welcome dinner. The opening session introduces the workshop concepts and provides an opportunity for participants to meet with each other. Day two is dedicated to storytelling. \nParticipants are given time to reflect on their life journey\, the events that have caused them pain\, and create a drawing of this map. Then\, they have time to share their personal experiences in small\, facilitated groups with an emphasis on safety\, respect\, and confidentiality. There is also time for quiet personal reflection and integration. The evening of the second day is set aside to allow participants time to relax together. On the third and final day\, the group shares their experiences\, common themes\, and lessons learned. The workshop closes after lunch with activities designed to help the veteran release the painful experiences and celebrate the future. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce an eco-pilgrimage being planned for Saturday October 18 from St Francis Xavier Parish to St. Mary’s Basilica\, as part of the Jubilee Year Pilgrims of Hope for Creation initiative. This pilgrimage is an opportunity to deepen our faith through a program of spiritual nourishment and action focused on protecting and caring for all of creation. \nWe encourage all to participate in this transformative journey\, where we will reflect on our call as stewards of the Earth and take concrete steps to promote ecological justice. \nWe will start with a light breakfast at 7am at Brophy’s Jesuit Garden south-west of Brophy Campus. If preferred\, feel free to meet us at the Basilica to celebrate mass; parking is available. SUMMARY:Third Annual Seton Classic Trifecta
DESCRIPTION:St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church will hold their third\, “Seton Classic Trifecta” an event to promote family fun\, friendship\, and enjoyment for car collectors\, crafters\, lovers of handmade items and classic cars. The event will take place\, Saturday\,\nOctober 18\, 2025\, from 8:00 am-1:00 pm\, in the parish community center and east parking lot located at 9728 W. Palmeras Drive\, Sun City\, AZ. \nThe Trifecta is a combination of three events going on simultaneously. In the cool air conditioned parish hall\, an $8 pancake breakfast served by the Knights of Columbus\, will be available from 8:00 to 10:30 am . Also in the Hall\, a craft fair with over 35 vendors will be offering their wares just in time for fall decorating. For the classic car attendees\, a free Breakfast is offered to each driver who registers their car. Registration is available at our website: www.setonclassic.com (starting September 18\, 2025) or by registering at the parish office or on the day of the show. The church is hosting this family friendly event for all who enjoy seeing cars from the classic era\, looking for precious items at the craft show\, and eating their fill of golden-brown pancakes. Hot Dog/ Hamburger lunch will also be served at a modest price. Along with our west parking lot alternate parking will be available to accommodate the crowds. \nThis year we welcome Karla West\, of Sun City Arizona Radio SCAZRadio.com who will be broadcasting live from the show. Car participants are asked to bring a non-perishable item for our SVdP pantry. All who wish may try their luck with a chance to win one of the many baskets in our raffle\, and or win some cash through a 50/50 raffle. Ice-cold water will also be available for entrants of the show. The proceeds of this year’s Trifecta will be used to support the parish’s Golden Anniversary celebration in 2026. \nThis is a free family event. We invite all to come to the Seton Classic Trifecta\, to enjoy the beginning of fall\, the community\, and all that will be available.

With beautiful music\, videos and more\, Ryan will be sharing and celebrating the beautiful successes of Angelico Sacred Music’s first year of ministry\, including collaborations with The Catholic University of America and The University of Notre Dame\, as well as the recognition ASM’s music received from The Catholic Institute of Sacred Music. DESCRIPTION:Nine years ago\, the Jesuits of this country came to know in a new way of their history of slaveholding\, and the sale of 272 individuals\, and the use of those funds to help keep Georgetown University economically afloat. \nSince that time\, Jesuits of the US and Descendants of that sale have together paved a way forward\, a path towards reconciliation\, forming a foundation\, The Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation\, which is now is in its third year of providing programming to Descendants of Jesuit slaveholding anywhere in the United States. \nOn Tuesday\, October 21\, St. Francis Xavier Parish will host a conversation with Katrina Albrandt\, a Descendant from that sale\, and Scott Santarosa\, SJ\, former provincial when the DTR Foundation was begun.
