SUMMARY:Vatican Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles
DESCRIPTION:As part of the National Eucharistic Revival\, the Vatican Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles is coming to Phoenix. There will be many stops on the way. See amazing displays for yourself — no need to travel to Rome! \nWhat is a Eucharistic Miracle?\nEucharistic miracles are extraordinary events or phenomena\, which manifest the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine in a way that we can discern with our ordinary senses. The manifestation may be as simple as a host floating on air or as astonishing as a host becoming visible human flesh. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\nTo always be close to Jesus; that’s my life plan. \nWith these few words\, Carlo Acutis\, the boy who died of leukemia\, outlines the distinguishing feature of his brief existence: to live with Jesus\, of Jesus\, and in Jesus. This international exhibition was created and designed by Blessed Carlo Acutis in 2002. It consists of an extensive collection of photographs and historical records representing a sampling of ancient and modern Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in various parts of the world. The collection was assembled by the Vatican to mark the Year of the Eucharist (2004-2005). After being shown at more than 500 parishes in Italy\, it is now traveling the rest of the world. \nBring the exhibit to your parish or school!\nThe exhibition brought to Phoenix is comprised of 47 different miracles spanning 1500 years\, with the most recent one having occurred in 2013! The miracles featured are from Europe\, Asia\, and the Americas. The exhibition offers you a virtual tour of these veritable treasures of our faith. To bring this exhibition to your parish or school\, email EucharisticMiraclesArizona@gmail.com. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\, pray for us! Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament\, pray for us!

SUMMARY:Fast Talk Theology: Lenten Insights from Jacopone da Todi\, Franciscan with Fr. Michael Blastic\, OFM\, Ph.D
DESCRIPTION:A program presented in partnership with the Franciscan School of Theology \nThe life story and poetry of Jacopone da Todi will be used to reflect on and respond to the challenges of living as Christians in a post-Christian world and the implications of this for our Lenten journey toward Easter. Jacopone (1230-1306) was a Franciscan Friar caught between the structures of the institutional church and his commitment to the radical practices and commitments of life as a Lesser Brother. His poetry describes the experience of his personal struggle to remain faithful to Francis of Assisi and the life of the gospel in a period of spiritual darkness and silence\, revealing what he learned along the way. \nNo fee and no registration required. Program will be in the Francis Room. \nOpen Attendance

SUMMARY:Franciscan Friars’ Legacy Spring Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:St. Mary’s Basilica welcomes the public to attend their free speaker series this coming March. The Franciscan Friars will lead conversations with featured guest speakers to share their history\, personal stories\, the impact of three Valley institutions and their relationship with St. Mary’s Basilica. The Franciscan Friars will depart the Basilica this summer after 127 years of service to the community and this series is part of their Legacy Celebration. \nOn Sunday\, March 12\, Patricia Hollerbach will be the featured speaker to discuss St. Mary’s High School. Hollerbach graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 2009\, and has served as the alumni relations coordinator and head coach for the girls basketball team for the past four years. Her position provides her the unique opportunity to meet with alumni from all decades and hear stories about the old high school location on Polk Street\, as well as when the Franciscan Friars oversaw the school. She currently belongs to La Casa (Our Lady of Angels)\, where she followed the late Fr. Alonso de Blas\, OFM. She married a fellow graduate and has three children\, all slated to be “future Knights.” She is accompanied by Nicolle Hernandez Cunningham (Class of 1994) who brings her own insight into the history and relationship between the high school and Franciscans.
