Keith Douglass Warner\, OFM \nPope Francis’s project for the church — the “Francis Option” — has now come into focus\, and it challenges everyone participating in religious formation and the life of the Church. Much has been written about the “novel” social dimensions of his project\, expressed in Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti\, but these can only be fully understood in light of the development of his ecclesial vision over the past twenty years. According to Brazilian Cardinal Cláudio Hummes (a former OFM Franciscan provincial)\, the reform of the Catholic Church is the greatest and most comprehensive goal of Pope Francis’s pontificate. Hummes asserts that the apostolic exhortation Evangelii gaudium is the true programmatic document of Pope Francis. In practice\, this project can be summarized in several moves for the church from: \na church of self-preservation to a church that goes forth to form missionary disciples\nclericalism to synodality\n“broken conveyor belts of faith” to a culture of encounter\nNo fee and no registration required. DESCRIPTION:As part of the National Eucharistic Revival\, the Vatican Exhibit of Eucharistic Miracles is coming to Phoenix. There will be many stops on the way. See amazing displays for yourself — no need to travel to Rome! \nWhat is a Eucharistic Miracle?\nEucharistic miracles are extraordinary events or phenomena\, which manifest the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine in a way that we can discern with our ordinary senses. The manifestation may be as simple as a host floating on air or as astonishing as a host becoming visible human flesh. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\nTo always be close to Jesus; that’s my life plan. \nWith these few words\, Carlo Acutis\, the boy who died of leukemia\, outlines the distinguishing feature of his brief existence: to live with Jesus\, of Jesus\, and in Jesus. This international exhibition was created and designed by Blessed Carlo Acutis in 2002. It consists of an extensive collection of photographs and historical records representing a sampling of ancient and modern Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in various parts of the world. The collection was assembled by the Vatican to mark the Year of the Eucharist (2004-2005). After being shown at more than 500 parishes in Italy\, it is now traveling the rest of the world. \nBring the exhibit to your parish or school!\nThe exhibition brought to Phoenix is comprised of 47 different miracles spanning 1500 years\, with the most recent one having occurred in 2013! The miracles featured are from Europe\, Asia\, and the Americas. The exhibition offers you a virtual tour of these veritable treasures of our faith. DESCRIPTION:Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord\nGood Friday is the one day in the year that no Masses are celebrated. In remembrance of Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross\, Catholics gather for a Communion service and to Venerate the Holy Cross. \nGood Friday is also a day of fasting and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory from age 18 until age 59\, unless fasting jeopardizes your health (for example\, pregnant or nursing mothers\, those with chronic illness like diabetes\, etc.). When fasting\, a person is permitted to eat one full meal\, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. All Catholics from age 14 onwards should abstain from eating meat. Learn more about fasting and abstinence from the USCCB. \nBishop John P.
