DESCRIPTION:The Casa Veterans Ministry at the Franciscan Renewal is recognized in the Valley for providing healing programs to U.S. Service Members and Veterans. \nWe are pleased to announce the return of our wonderful “St. Francis: Journey of a Resilient Warrior Retreat” which will be held February 9-11\, 2024 at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale\, AZ. The retreat will be led by Fr. Conrad Targonski OFM\, CAPT\, CHC\, USN (ret.)\, Greg Masiello\, Ph.D.\, and Rev. Dr. William Reese\, D. Min\, Th.D.\, and examine the healing insights of St. Francis of Assisi\, a soldier and prisoner of war in the 13the century. \nIf you are a Service Member or Veteran\, come join Fr. Conrad\, Greg and Bill as they examine the hardships and challenges faced by St. Francis of Assisi and untangle the paradox of his life\, exploring how the call of the warrior intersects with the call of spirituality. See amazing displays for yourself — no need to travel to Rome! \nWhat is a Eucharistic Miracle?\nEucharistic miracles are extraordinary events or phenomena\, which manifest the Real Presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine in a way that we can discern with our ordinary senses. The manifestation may be as simple as a host floating on air or as astonishing as a host becoming visible human flesh. \nBlessed Carlo Acutis\nTo always be close to Jesus; that’s my life plan. \nWith these few words\, Carlo Acutis\, the boy who died of leukemia\, outlines the distinguishing feature of his brief existence: to live with Jesus\, of Jesus\, and in Jesus. This international exhibition was created and designed by Blessed Carlo Acutis in 2002. It consists of an extensive collection of photographs and historical records representing a sampling of ancient and modern Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in various parts of the world. The collection was assembled by the Vatican to mark the Year of the Eucharist (2004-2005). After being shown at more than 500 parishes in Italy\, it is now traveling the rest of the world. \nBring the exhibit to your parish or school!\nThe exhibition brought to Phoenix is comprised of 47 different miracles spanning 1500 years\, with the most recent one having occurred in 2013! It means that in your interactions with family\, friends\, community\, co-workers\, and partners you work to stay grounded in living from your deepest values like love\, equity\, peace\, care\, and kindness. It also means that you have invested time\, energy\, and careful attention in cultivating the concrete and practical skills that help you meet relationship challenges in integrity with those values.
