An overflow crowd gathered for the Ordination Mass of Auxiliary Bishop Peter Dai Bui at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Avondale, Ariz., on Tuesday (Feb. 17). The church was at capacity with an overflow crowd in the nearby John Paul II High School gymnasium, as the faithful and friends of the diocese gathered to witness the momentous occasion. There were more than 20 cardinals and bishops from across the country in attendance, including Cardinal Christophe Pierre from the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. Auxiliary Bishop Bui will join Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo Nevares to assist Bishop John Dolan in serving the Diocese of Phoenix, one of the fastest growing dioceses in the United States.
