Attention eighth-graders, prospective transfers and their parents: Now is the time to schedule a shadow day or eighth-grade day at what could be your future alma mater. Or, especially for prospective transfer students, add upcoming open houses to your calendar.

Here’s what local Catholic high schools are offering:

  • Brophy Info Night — 6:45-8 p.m. Oct. 2-24 (various dates) at several Valley locations. Check out the most FAQ (and answer) so far. Details: see flyer or Facebook.
  • Eighth Grade Day — Register for this large group format which introduces students to campus culture and basic info often with entertainment, games and pep rally. This format not offered at all campuses.
    Bourgade Catholic — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 12
    Notre Dame Prep — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 2
    Saint Mary’s — Nov. 9
    Xavier — 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 26
  • Shadow Day — Register to spend an ordinary day on campus with a current student (someone you know or someone you’re matched with based on interest) and see if the high school is for you.
    Bourgade Catholic — any Friday you choose.
    Brophy — earliest opening as of this post is Nov. 15. For eighth-graders and older.
    Notre Dame Prep — any day you choose Nov. 5-Feb. 1.
    Saint Mary’s — any Friday you choose.
    Seton — earliest openings as of this post are Oct. 16-28.
    Xavier — Nov. 5-Feb. 28.
  • Open house — Just show up. For eighth-graders and prospective transfer students. Tour the campus, meet the teachers, coaches, students and more.
    Bourgade Catholic — noon-3 p.m. Nov. 18
    Brophy — 12:30-3 p.m. Nov. 4
    Notre Dame Prep — 1-4 p.m. Nov. 4. More than 80 percent of students participate in sports, clubs, student government and performing arts. Applications due Nov. 30. The Class of 2012 was awarded $13 million in scholarships.
    Saint Mary’s — Nov. 11
    Seton — 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 3
    Xavier — noon-2:30 p.m. Oct. 28
