More than 3,500 Catholics celebrate Catholic Night at the ballpark

More than 3,500 Catholics gathered at Chase Field on Friday night, (Sept. 11) setting a new Diocese of Phoenix attendance record for the 4th Annual Catholic Night.

The crowd watched the Arizona Diamondbacks defeat the Texas Rangers 9-1 to keep their National League Wild Card playoff hopes alive.

To mark the 25th anniversary of St. John Bosco Catholic School in Ahwatukee, students Benjamin Rodriguez, Kylee Togiai and Sloan Root threw ceremonial first strikes to D-backs pitcher Brandon Pfaadt as Bishop John Dolan stood by.

The pre-game program featured a special video tribute and a moment of silence to honor the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.
