Four junior rowers at Xavier College Preparatory captured their school’s first national crew championship in Camden, New Jersey May 23.

Grace Ganz, Cami Hays, Ellie Martin and Martha Ryan, rowed across the finish line nine seconds ahead of their nearest opponent during the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s National Championship Regatta. Freshwomen Dominique Jablonski, Tatiana Rosales, Paulina Oles, and Anna Heslin placed fourth in their race and were the first Gators to represent the school in that race.

Martin and Ryan’s third place finish in the Southwest Youth Championship earlier this month earned them a trip to the USRowing Youth Nationals in Florida next month. Earlier this spring, Xavier’s crew team won the state championship title at the Desert Sprints Regatta for the second consecutive year.
