Special Screening of “Come Here Brother Wolf” — Veterans’ Pilgrimage to Assisi

The Casa Veterans Ministry at the Franciscan Renewal Center would like to invite you to attend a special screening of “Come Here Brother Wolf,” a moving 60-minute documentary which follows of a group of veterans on a healing journey to Assisi, Italy with Friar Conrad Targonski, OFM.

The documentary is produced by two-time Emmy®–winning journalist Dustin Luecke and award- winning journalist/author Martha Boehm. (See a short trailer of the movie at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NQnVdUazFU).

The film captures veterans’ deep thoughts and conversations as the travel through Rome, Italy and the Assisi countryside, connecting their own military experience to how Francis of Assisi, a soldier and prisoner of war in the 12th century, coped with post-traumatic stress and spiritual distress.

Fr. Conrad served 22+ years with the Navy & Marine Corps as a supervisory chaplain in Operation Phantom Fury, Fallujah, Iraq in 2004-2005.  He has taken over 20 Arizona veterans on this pilgrimage over the past 15 years, and is very well known in Arizona, having led numerous retreats for over 220 AZ veterans at the Franciscan Renewal Center since 2013.  He is featured in the film.

A discussion with Fr. Conrad, the film’s Co-Producer, Martha Boehm, military chaplains and veterans, will follow the screening.

Doors will open at 6 pm, and the film will start at 7 pm. The Franciscan Renewal Center is located at 5802 E. Lincoln Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85253.
