Friends, supporters and staff of First Way Pregnancy Support Center gathered Dec. 12 to celebrate the advent of the facility’s second ultrasound machine.

Being young, Catholic and in the local work force can be challenging, but soon such individuals will have the opportunity to connect with peers facing similar struggles by joining the nation’s newest chapter of Young Catholic Professionals and the first one based out of the Arizona.

It wasn’t just the most important meal of the day to fortify the hours ahead. It provided a livelihood for 90 young scholars.

Students are spreading Christmas cheer and earning recognition for their work in and out of the classroom.

For the past 50 years St. Louis the King Catholic School has prided itself on forming the mind, body and soul of children. Michael Hoffarth, class of 1973, would add one more word — friendships. “To this day, we still have class reunions,” he said. “When you find similar ideals and beliefs you build friendships for a lifetime.” Hoffarth was joined by a handful of other ’73 graduates during the school’s Golden Jubilee celebration Aug.15 at the parish and school.

Discipleship means drawing close to the heart of Christ and then making an active choice to become more and more like Him in his teaching, action, joy and hope.

After reading something from the author, students wrote to them about how the work personally impacted them.

A simple request from her pastor launched a career in education that spans decades. MaryBeth Mueller, superintendent of Catholic schools and Executive Director of the Division of Education and Evangelization for the Diocese of Phoenix, marked 30 years of service in the diocese this summer.

She is the second student in the last several years to achieve such a feat.
