When you contribute to Catholic Education Arizona you are telling the state how you want your state income tax liability spent! You have a choice, keep your state income taxes in our faith and help a needy student attend a Catholic school.

When I was in college, I met a young Catholic woman. Going to Mass became a way to spend another hour with her, so I gladly went. After a few Sundays, though, attending Mass became more than just an opportunity to see my girlfriend.

If you asked me 20 years ago what I’d be doing now, the last answer I would have given is cemetery manager. But that’s exactly where I find myself today.

On a recent pilgrimage with about 30 students to San Xavier Del Bac Mission near Tucson, one of the students remarked “being here on a pilgrimage gives me a new sense of this place.”

With Christmas almost upon us, we have the opportunity to reflect on the joy of Christ’s birth and what it means to us as Catholics.

Memorial Day is soon upon us. During this time of honoring those who sacrificed their lives in the service of our country, it’s natural for our thoughts to turn to those loved ones we have lost.

When I joined Catholic Cemeteries and Funeral Homes in 2006, I was instantly moved by my work. On any given day, I not only help families preplan their funeral arrangements services, but I also help them in times of sudden loss, something I went through myself only a few months ago when my husband passed away.

There is a growing interest around the world about the celebration of el Día de los Muertos, exemplified by two recent animation movies about this topic: "The Book of Life" and "Coco." I believe that this fascination about the el Día de los Muertos celebration is the safest opportunity for people to talk freely about death without feeling vulnerable.
