State of the Campaign for February 2018

As the first full block of the “Together Let Us Go Forth ~ Juntos Sigamos Adelante” campaign ends, I am excited to share good news.

Recognizing the feast of ashes, boredom and dull moments

Many people have morning rituals. Mine include stretching, prayer, a good cup of tea and catching up with on-line news I missed during the night.

Repentance in the early Church

The call to a change of heart and a change of life was a hallmark of the ministry of Jesus, of His forerunner, John the Baptist, and of His apostles.

Bearing our share of hardship for the Gospel helps us grow in love

If you reflect on the lives of the saints, one of the first things you might notice is that they weren’t comfortable. They embraced the cross and the hardships that came with it. Taming the flesh so as to better follow Christ is a countercultural, revolutionary effort in 2018, but then again, it’s always been a way to swim against the tide.

Three steps to joy

“Evangelii Gaudium,” “Amoris Laetitia” and, now, “Gaudete et Exsultate.” What do they have in common? They were written by Pope Francis? Yes. They are apostolic exhortations? Yes. More important? Joy.

Spiritual Warfare: The Armor of the Sacraments

Throughout the course of human history, wars have been waged and their outcomes have shaped the identity of many nations. But, there is another war, although generally unseen by human eyes, that “is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens” (Eph 6:12).

State of the Campaign for March 2018

Without a doubt the Holy Spirit is bringing communities together through an encounter with God’s love via the “Together Let Us Go Forth ~ Juntos Sigamos Adelante” campaign.

Time for surgery: America is broken and we need a new heart

The truth is we’re facing a heart problem. Our heart is not beating in sync with God’s heart. Let us rededicate ourselves to love and serving others, to being good neighbors and parishioners, involved in our communities, seeking out the lost.

Victory of Christ

In February of 2013, a man spent $92,613 to purchase a bloody sock. The sock was a part of a live auction held at the Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion in Manhattan.
