Christ in Our Neighborhood is a parish-based program consisting of small Christian communities that gather in the home weekly to prayerfully discuss the upcoming Sunday Mass readings. It’s easy to form a community and you can find out more at Christ in Our Neighborhood – The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix (dphx.org)
This coming Sunday, we celebrate All Souls’ Day. Check out the question the Christ in Our Neighborhood reflection poses: Can you trust that Jesus will not reject the one you’ve lost — or the one you’ve become?
On All Souls’ Day we remember the ones whose earthly lives have ended but who are now in the next world. The Lay Cistercians have a wonderful prayer for the dead which reads in part, “I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away.”
We pray in hope for our loved ones lost, trusting in God’s mercy and His love that sent His Son into the world to die for our sins. We can know with certainty that God loves our dear ones even more than we do.
If you haven’t joined a Christ in Our Neighborhood small group yet, perhaps you are being called to start one yourself. Check out our website today to find out more: dphx.org/Christ-in-our-neighborhood.
